This Columbine Fairy was found in a corner sidewalk area in a West Los Angeles residential neighborhood that was home to a group of spirited children and shared an outdoor library box.
Columbines are the archetype of flower fairies. Their fragile petals, sepals, and spurs seem to give them the imaginary power to fly and flutter in the air, as fairies do, to explore and have adventures. The tips of their spurs are packed with sweet nectar. They attract beauty, such as butterflies, bees and hummingbirds. The scientists call them Aquilegia and proposed that they settled in N. America after crossing the Bering Land Bridge 10,000 to 40,000 years ago. They radiated out from Alaska and naturally and rapidly evolved into a variety of species by adapting their flower parts to their new habitats.
The Columbine Fairy inspires brave adventure, curiosity, and courage. They are amicable, sweet, fun, playful and endearing. And they attract and surround themselves with Beauty.
